Back in the day, roof decorations were prestigious as well as functional. These antique cast iron "snow dogs" or "snow brakes", lined up with iron bars between them on a roof would prevent heavy ice and snow from falling down onto shrubs, landscaping around the house or entrance steps (Let alone, people!). The figures in these snow guards have been a topic of discussion, some say they are cats and some say dogs. Made of heavy cast iron, they have a long nail or pin which hold the bars in place. ...
These beautifully illustrated, dated 1924 antique Nursery Rhyme Story Cards would be the perfect addition to a nursery or child's room. All the illustrations with the old time, cherub-faced children were made by the artist, Maude Trube. Although each card is suitable for framing and would be beautiful wall art, the old, original fairy tale nursery rhyme story that is written on the back is equally as charming in it's own respect as the picture on the front making them what we would call today, ...

This exquisite silver and gold Worshipful Past Master Masonic medal was presented to George Wright Quinby of Wooster, Ohio on Nov. 11, 1914. Found in an old, late 1800's wall safe, this metal has been locked away for years, preserved in it's original leather presentation case with black felt lining. The detailed filagree and engravings in the silver are stunning. (Silver has been tested). Three silver jewels are engraved on raised blue enamel, "Buttons" on the wreath, a Trowel, The All Seeing Eye ...
This late 1800's, early American, country primitive, wooden dough bowl was once the workhorse of the kitchen. This bowl is extra nice because of it's size, a bit out of round, typical of hand turned bowls, measuring a very large 17-1/4" across. It's deeper than a lot of other bowls, giving it more of a beehive shape measuring 5-1/2" tall. You can still see and feel the ridges on the inside from the hand tool marks with nice wood grain showing both inside and out. It sits sturdy on a flat bottom ...

Here's something you don't see every day. An early Medical Research Laboratory Desiccator with the original removable aluminum screen. This is one of the largest medical jars you'll ever see.
Desiccators are used to dry substances by placing them inside together with a drying agent such as salt. They can also be used to store substances at a constant, controllable humidity level by placing a substance with specific hygroscopic properties, and which has already absorbed water, in the desiccator.
